Should You Go For A Botox Treatment?

By Gabriel Dean

Many people might consider Botox treatments and other aesthetic procedures as a waste of time and vain activities. Since it is not a procedure that is covered by insurance policies, it is something that you will have to pay for on your own. But if you have decided to consider getting Botox then take the plunge after you have weighed the pros and cons of the procedure. You should also make sure that you agree with the doctor on the results and the outcome of the procedure.

Perhaps you are expecting too much from a Botox injection? If you are unsure, talk to your doctor and ask to see pictures of people that he has performed the treatment on. This will give you a better idea about the results that you should expect.

Fuller lips and an attractive appeal might sound like a great thing but is it really worth it to get a Botox treatment? If you are thinking it will boost your confidence, you should stop to think about whether the problem really is the look of your skin or lips or is rooted much deeper? If it is, chances are a Botox treatment may not be the answer to all the problems you are facing in life.

If you still think you need to get your hands on fuller lips and a smoother skin then be advised that the injections are quite expensive and insurance does not cover purely aesthetic cosmetic surgery procedures. Botox can help minimize the appearance of wrinkles on your skin but you must learn every issue associated with the procedure.

Botox treatment requires a well experienced doctor and you must choose someone reliable because there have been cases of people being injected with a higher than required dose which can cause severe problems. It is also not advisable for patients with bleeding disorders or multiple sclerosis. Nursing mothers and pregnant women are also not allowed to take the injections. People on specific medications are also supposed to find out about their individual cases and discuss with the physician beforehand.

In some people it may also cause muscle loosening, causing a drooping effect especially around eyes. There are some other unpleasant side effects which include flu type symptoms and excessive drooling from the side of the lips which may last for a few months. It is important to make an advised decision based on all these criteria. - 30516

Basic Risks of Plastic Surgery

By Jack Walsh

Relative to other plastic surgery procedures, liposuction is among the safest and most popular. The most common side effects are mild and temporary and serious risks are very rare occurrences. A good surgeon will practice proper preparatory as well as post-surgery procedures to ensure minimal problems during recovery.

The most common problems associated with any plastic surgery procedure is due to improper clean up after the surgery. Liposuction in particular notoriously causes a lot of fluid loss and proper drainage can prevent many of the common problems that occur during healing.

There are new liposuction techniques that have been developed and are further being improved every day to minimize the effects of any complication. Still there is no way to completely eliminate all risks. The common side effects are still potential problems.

Hematomas and seromas are one of the most common issues after liposuction. It can last for several months depending on the severity of the condition. This is when the treated area shows discolored spots due to blood pooling under the skin and can be minimized or prevented completely with proper clean up and drainage after surgery.

Surgical risks and anesthesia risks have the potential to be serious in rare cases. Major liposuction treatment is still a physically forceful procedure in some situations and can leave the surrounding tissue harmed. Internal organ damage is a possibility but the most common is excessive blood loss from damaged blood vessels.

A certified anesthesiologist is required to administer the anesthetic solution to ensure proper dosage. Some risks include allergic reactions to the drug can range from mild to serious complications. Patients are also advised to avoid any epinephrine-like drug that might elevate heart rate since the anesthesia could magnify the effect.

Understanding the risks of plastic surgery is the first step to a safe and enjoyable experience. Never bargain when it comes to shopping for a surgeon and that means that a low priced solution must not compromise the integrity of the surgeon and his qualifications. - 30516

Variables in the Cost of Plastic Surgery

By Gene Banyan

There is more to determining plastic surgery costs than one might initially believe. The main determinants to the cost is the part of the body to be treated, the type of procedure, the technique used and the geographical location of the clinic. In general, larger areas will cost more to treat for obvious reasons. The exact treatment and technique that will be used could affect the tools required and could be more or less difficult than the alternative. The rates for each itemized charge are relative to the cosmetic surgery market of that geographical region.

Larger body areas will cost more than smaller areas. This is because larger areas will take more time and effort to fully treat.

The cost per treatment area can influence each other as well if they are to be combined into one session. Getting multiple areas treated at once will cost less than multiple individual sessions. It is cheaper to do work on multiple areas in a single session to make the most of the efforts of setting up and preparing the patient for surgery.

There are many different plastic surgery procedures and each one will differ in cost from another. Non-surgical procedures, injections, and chemical peels tend to be cheaper than surgical procedures since there is much less risk of serious complication.

Some major surgeries will require general anesthesia which is to sedate the patient while others only require local anesthesia. The dosage will influence the anesthesia fee which is a big part of the final cost since the amount of the drug consumed will be billed to the patient. Higher doses not only cost more for the solution but also because the administration will require a certified anesthesiologist.

Most clinics will initially quote and advertise only the surgeon's fee since this is probably the only fee that is an item in every procedure. But the total cost of any procedure will include more than the surgeon fee because there is always charges for equipment and overhead items. The overhead charge for the use of the surgical equipment and room will be charged as a facility fee or hospital fee. The cost of administering the numbing solution averages about $1000. Any special equipment or tool used during the surgery will usually be included to the facility fee or itemized individually. - 30516

Plastic Surgery - A Concise Look Into The Field Of Plastic Surgery

By Linda Wong

This article focuses on plastic surgery, the numerous varieties on top of the true meaning of the term Despite its namesake, plastic surgery very rarely involves the use of plastic in any shape or form. The word "Plastic" in plastic surgery hails from the greek word Plastikos, which means "to shape", "to form" or "to mold".. And that is what plastic surgery implies. Correcting perceived imperfections using the use of forming or shaping for cosmetic purposes or for functional purposes is what what is known as plastic surgery.

The earliest example of reconstructive surgery hails from as long ago as 2000BC. Some distinguished doctors that improved upon known plastic surgery methods at the time include Sushruta Samhita, a prominent Indian doctor who lived around the 6th century BC. The works of this person spread throughout Europe via what was then known as the Arabic world. He has been given the designation "father of plastic surgery as a consequence.

Just like how persons vary in personality, their reasons for going under the knife will be different as well. However, they usually fall into one of two groups, reconstructive surgery to improve function or owing to an illness or suffering, plastic surgery to fight the effects of age in addition to those that use cosmetic surgery to correct imperfections.

As mentioned above, there are three general plastic surgery procedures that are done for a variety of reasons. Reconstructive surgery. Trauma, accidents, cancer, fractures plus burns are just some of the reasons why a person may well require reconstructive surgery not just for cosmetic aims but for functional purposes.

Then there is Cosmetic Surgery. Cosmetic Surgery is a means of enhancing particular aspects about a persons features that were deemed imperfect or thought possible to be improved upon. Rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, facelifts, chin augmentation, cheek augmentation, eyelid surgery in addition to tummy tucks all fall into this group.

The final grouping is concerned with specialized plastic surgery. Further plastic surgery specializations are required for particular cases. These regularly include micro-surgery, hand surgery, pediatric surgery along with craniofacial surgery. - 30516

What You Need To Know About Cosmetic Surgery Prices

By Sharon Lee

The cost of plastic surgery can be very different between individuals for the same procedure. That is because of the wide variety of charges and fees that make up the total price as well as the numerous factors that can influence each of these charges or fees. By breaking down the costs we can get a better idea about what these factors are and by understanding how they affect the total price we can determine the best way to get a better deal.

One of the biggest factors is the area of the body to be treated. A larger area will obviously cost more than a smaller area and the price differences are all relative to the person. Other factors including the composition of the material in that particular area of the body influence the costs of that area as well. Most patients who ask for an estimate will receive the surgeons' average charge for a particular area of the body.

Of course the final price is determined by other factors that will influence how much it will cost to treat on area of the body. Some factors can be controlled by the patients such as the geographical location of the clinic where the procedure will be performed. The cost will be relative to the plastic surgery market of the area so a patient who is willing to make the commute could leave a higher priced market to a lower priced market to find a cheaper service.

But the one thing that should not be compromised when shopping around is the quality of the surgeon. Most surgeons who offer cheap plastic surgery probably do not have the same skill, experience, or qualifications as other surgeons in the area and use price rather than a history of happy clients to draw new patients.

It is important that any patient shopping for a surgeon does not settle for any less than a board certified plastic surgeon. Not only is the patient putting their own health at risk but it may actually cost more in the long run if another surgeon is required to fix the mistake of a previous surgeon.

Adequate research is necessary on the patient's part to ensure they are receiving the best care and service for their particular request. The first step to receiving any type of cosmetic enhancement treatment is to seek consultation with a qualified surgeon. - 30516

What Does Breast Cancer Look Like?

By Geraldine Dang

Do you ever feel like you know just enough about breast cancer to be dangerous? Let's see if we can fill in some of the gaps with the latest info from breast cancer experts. So what does breast cancer look like?

Breast cancer is the most lethal form of cancer for women in the world. An estimated 1 million cases will be identified this year, and about 500,000 new and existing patients will die from the disease. Breast cancer incidence among women of European descent in the Western world is several times higher than that among Chinese or Japanese women in Asia. The gradual elimination of this difference over several generations among Asian migrants in Western countries implies that genetic factors are not responsible for the ecological contrasts [2]. Breast cancer is 100 times more common in women than in men. Most cases of male breast cancer are detected in men between the ages of 60 and 70, although the condition can develop in men of any age.

Mammograms can be uncomfortable. But they don't take very long. Mammograms offer a similar kind of sleight-of-hand trick (or sleight-of-breast, as the case may be) by actually generating the very disease they claim to find. If so many women hadn't already been harmed by mammography, the whole thing would be quite hysterical.

It seems like new information is discovered about something every day. And the topic of breast cancer is no exception. Keep reading to get more fresh news about breast cancer.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American women behind lung cancer. The lifetime risk of any particular woman getting breast cancer is about 1 in 8 although the lifetime risk of dying from breast cancer is much lower at 1 in 28. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women worldwide. For whatever reason, the number of cases has increased in the last 30 years. Breast cancer is hormone-dependent. Temperature can alter hormone function.

Women with one of these defects have up to an 80% chance of getting breast cancer sometime during their life. Women with a family history are definitely at greater risk, but 75% of women who get breast cancer have no family history of the disease. Regardless of your family history, if a thermogram is abnormal you run a future risk of breast cancer that is 10 times higher than a first order family history of the disease.

Treatment can come at a very high price. Others may argue that as long as you are alive, this is of utmost importance to your children, and then, it means also so much to you, the patient, to be able to be there for them. Treatments with greater efficacy and/or fewer side effects are constantly being tested. This article describes how to keep up with improving treatments that might help you. Treatment can be anything from surgery to chemotherapy to radiation therapy to biological therapy.

What does breast cancer look like? If you've picked some pointers about breast cancer that you can put into action, then by all means, do so. You won't really be able to gain any benefits from your new knowledge if you don't use it. - 30516

A Cosmetic Surgery Center Should Reassure Patients That It Can Provide The Best Care

By Ernest Moore

When one walks into a plastic surgery clinic one should find that one feels a sense of trust and feel reassured that the care one is going to be provided is the very best. You would naturally feel that a good cosmetic surgery clinic must have modern facilities that will suit the different types of surgeries that are to be performed.

It should meet standards for elective as well as emergency care and facilities should not be less than those found in a hospital.

Often, a cosmetic surgery clinic may be removed from the hustle and bustle of city life, and it is not unusual to find one that is situated in a countryside, and is secluded and offers plenty of privacy that has dedicated teams of surgeons to offer patients the very best in care.

Check Location, And Also Who Is In Charge

Besides the location of the cosmetic surgery clinic, there is the important factor of who is in charge and the chief surgeon should have impeccable credentials as well as be recognized by a reputed association. Though such a person will normally be pressed for time, the cosmetic surgery clinic must allow for prior consultation with the surgeon to establish the type of cosmetic surgery required as well as the action plan, and of course, arrive at what the costs would be.

A cosmetic surgery clinic usually offers a number of different types of cosmetic surgery procedures, and some may specialize in certain kinds such as face lifts that sets them apart from other clinics. With excellence in expertise should come affordable costs otherwise the clinic will only be catering to the rich and those who have the kind of resources required to undergo expensive treatment at a cosmetic surgery clinic.

There are also some cosmetic surgery clinics that combine work with vacation and offer services that include tailoring a vacation according to specific requirements of the patients. All you need to do is fill in required information and the cosmetic surgery clinic will arrange for you to have cosmetic surgery along with a vacation especially planned to meet the patient's needs.

The best way to source a cosmetic surgery clinic is to browse the internet, or check out the classified ads in local newspapers. There are abundant clinics spread not only across a state, but all over the country, and even beyond. You should research the facilities offered as well as the competence of staff and surgeons before choosing a particular cosmetic surgery clinic. - 30516

Breast Enhancement - Is It For Me?

By Allen Wright

The Internet has a lot of information regarding breast enhancement, and should be researched carefully. Having the surgery done is a personal decision. Therefore, look for referrals and and see more than one doctor. Women who are seeking these surgeries that are in committed relationships or married, in their thirties with a better than high school education, that are self conscious about the way they look.

Females who are thinking about having their breasts enlarged have many choices to address. One option is to go with surgical and non surgical. Surgical choices are usually implants- Silicon and Saline. Choices for non surgical procedures include: Natural choices, Herbal Methodology, Pills, Exercises, Creams, and under clothes that fit properly. Many women will try non surgical procedures due to them being lower cost and may give them the look they are wanting without surgery. Going with the surgical option is more of a guarantee to get the look you are wanting.

It's natural to have a small difference in breast size. Some women are just born with more tissue on one side than the other. Women can have surgery done to correct this. One thing to consider is that if you notice that the breast is becoming increasingly noticeably different in size, there may be a medical problem. Disproportionate breast can be a sign of back, shoulder, and neck pains. You should consult your physician as there may be a medical problem needing attention.

It is not uncommon for a breast implant to shift after a surgery or a previous patient to go back and have a surgery to go with a larger implant. When women have gone through massive weight loss, this can cause a considerable amount of unwanted skin. Women may go and have an upper body reshaping performed in extreme cases.

There are some cases of women who become depressed after breast feeding as their breast no longer retain the shape they once were. By undergoing the surgery, women have gained that extra spring in their step and are ready to show off the changes in their new looks.

At one time, only the wealthy could afford this luxury. The high cost has been a concern in the planning of the procedure. Because this is typically a cosmetic surgery, insurance companies do not incur any cost. There is not one cost for everything. Cost of the surgeries can differentiate from one doctor to the next as popularity of doctor can sky rocket the charges.

For most women, proportion size and shape to what a natural breast looks like is desired. Women who have an A cup will usually go to a C cup. Acne Scar Prevention

Breast Augmentation Procedures and Costs

By Sharon Lee

There are three different types breast augmentation procedures to treat different problems and produce a variety of desired results. Many women have issues with their breast for one reason or another and some to a degree where surgical enhancement is warranted. Sometimes it is for medical reasons, such as a reduction in size to relieve back pains while others want implants for aesthetic reasons. Some women want breast augmentation to give them more shapely breasts. The three different types of augmentation can be categorized as enlarging, reducing, or reshaping.

Breast augmentation prices depend on a number of factors and for that reason will differ greatly between individuals. In general, the cost for breast implants to increase the size will range around $5,000 to $7,000 while size reduction or reconstruction can cost around $4,500 to $6,000. A breast lift, a particular type of reshaping is usually performed with breast implants and can cost around $3,000 to $4,000 for the procedure.

Those seeking breast augmentations to enlarge their breasts will have a choice between silicone or saline implants. There are slight differences in prices between the two materials but the average surgeon fee, which represent only the charge for the surgeon's services and a fraction of the total bill, is usually a few hundred dollars more for silicone.

Breast mastectomy is the reconstruction of the breast and is often for women who have or are currently going through breast cancer. Meanwhile, breast reduction, mammoplasty, is a voluntary procedure to reduce the size usually to relieve problems caused by excessively large breasts. Both procedures are similar in that it requires tissues to be removed from the area and while they serve slightly different purposes, the procedural similarities warrant the same pricing.

A breast lift, technically known as a mastopexy and is an option for women who do not want to change the size of their breast but simply the shape. As its name suggests it gives the patient perkier breasts which consequently can make them appear larger or fuller. It is usually best for women with small breast that sag, commonly as a result of bearing children.

There are many benefits that plastic surgery offers to those who use enhancement procedures with sound judgment. There are also many risks associated with unrealistic goals or expectations from plastic surgery treatments. Any surgery is a serious matter and it is up to the patient to inform themselves before proceeding. - 30516

The Many Determinants of Plastic Surgery Costs

By Jack Walsh

There is more to determining plastic surgery costs than one might initially believe. The main determinants to the cost is the part of the body to be treated, the type of procedure, the technique used and the geographical location of the clinic. Basically, the larger sized areas will cost more because it usually takes more work. The exact treatment and technique that will be used could affect the tools required and could be more or less difficult than the alternative. The rates for each itemized charge are relative to the cosmetic surgery market of that geographical region.

Body parts that are bigger will generally cost more than smaller parts. It might seem obvious but it is the effort and time required of the surgeon that patients are being charged.

Having multiple areas being worked on at one time will save money.

The amount of anesthesia required depends on the size of the surgery which is a factor of the type of treatment. The anesthesia charge is a big item in the total cost of plastic surgery and the amount of the drug used is not free. An anesthesiologist will have to administer higher doses of the drug which also adds to the cost.

Every type of plastic surgery treatment will contain a surgeon fee which is what the surgeon charges for their time and effort. There are many more types of costs that have to be added in for each procedure. The use of the surgery room is usually called the facility fee and can cost $500 to $2000 per session. The cost of administering the numbing solution averages about $1000. The facility fee will also include any type of equipment or tools used during the procedure. - 30516

Determining the Cost of Plastic Surgery

By April Conmers

Plastic surgery costs comprise of many charges which are priced based on many factors. The main determinants to the cost is the part of the body to be treated, the type of procedure, the technique used and the geographical location of the clinic. Typically, large parts of the body will cost more to treat than smaller parts. What procedure is being performed and how it will be done can influence the tools used which could increase or decrease the overall cost. The rates for each itemized charge are relative to the cosmetic surgery market of that geographical region.

The size of the area will cost more or less depending on how large it is. This is simply for the fact that small areas are quicker and require less work.

The cost will also be influenced by the number of areas in one session. It will cost less per area if multiple treatments can be done in one session. It is cheaper to do work on multiple areas in a single session to make the most of the efforts of setting up and preparing the patient for surgery.

Since some procedures are more delicate or difficult to perform, the type of procedure will definitely influence the cost of plastic surgery. Minimally invasive procedures such non-surgical alternatives, injectables, and skin treatments will usually cost less since they tend to be smaller and less risky.

Major surgeries that require sedation of the patient will cost more than procedures where local anesthesia is administered. The dosage will influence the anesthesia fee which is a big part of the final cost since the amount of the drug consumed will be billed to the patient. General anesthesia and other high dosages will require an anesthesiologist to administer the drug which will raise the anesthesia fee.

The surgeon fee is the price most often quoted and advertised since it is consistently an item across every type of plastic surgery procedure. There are many charges that the clinic will pass onto the patient in the form of various fees. The use of the facilities is sometimes called a hospital fee or facility fee which can cost between $500 and $2000. The cost of administering the numbing solution averages about $1000. Different types of tools and equipment required will be included in the facility fee as well. - 30516

The Many Influences of Plastic Surgery Costs

By Gregory McWhorton

The cost of plastic surgery depends on a number of factors. The primary factors that determine what a procedure will cost include but are not limited to the area of the body to be treated, the type of procedure, and the physical location of the surgeon. Typically, large parts of the body will cost more to treat than smaller parts. Some procedures are more difficult or labor intensive and can depend on the techniques employed. The plastic surgery market of the geographical region dictates the rates so clinics have to price accordingly.

The size of the area will cost more or less depending on how large it is. The basic idea is that large sized areas will require more work and time.

The cost will also be influenced by the number of areas in one session. It costs less in terms of effort to prepare and clean up to treat multiple areas. So anyone who is might want plastic surgery in more than one place should consider planning for multiple treatments.

Since some procedures are more delicate or difficult to perform, the type of procedure will definitely influence the cost of plastic surgery. The procedures can be grouped by likeness since similar procedures will be priced similarly and are usually based on the complication of the technique involved.

Major surgeries that require sedation of the patient will cost more than procedures where local anesthesia is administered. The anesthesia charge is a big item in the total cost of plastic surgery and the amount of the drug used is not free.

There will be a facility fee which is usually the cost of the surgery room and it can range from 5 hundred to two thousand dollars. Anesthesia administration as well as the drug consumed usually costs about a thousand dollars. The facility fee will also include any type of equipment or tools used during the procedure. - 30516

Nothing has been found to totally eliminate acne scarring. However, an knowledge of your skin may assist in alleviating your acne problem s potential long-term ruins.

Acne is the result of a reaction between bacteria and sebum discharged by the glands present in skin, resulting to an infection. During the healing period of this condition, a fibrous protein called collagen is made. When the collagen is in excess, there is a lump and when its generation is below normal then it results in tiny craters on the skin. Acne scars develop in both these situations. Teenagers are usually most prone to acne as the hormone levels increase during puberty resulting more sebum discharge.

An acne scar is a result of our tissue s ability to restore itself after sustaining a wound. After the human skin sustains injuries, which includes acne, the body attempts to cure the busted tissue. However, the tissue cannot always be repaired to its pre-injury condition. There actually is no exact study linking why several individuals land up with acne scars and why some simply do not. To try to explicate this, people have claimed that scarring simply runs in the blood . Thus, scarring is believed a hereditary nemesis. Some also scar permanently, while some individuals have scars that eventually vanish over time.

Since we have very little knowledge on acne scars, the safest way to avoid acne scars then would be to hamper its source which is acne.

Breastfeeding Safely With Breast Implants

By Dr. York Yates

The advantages of breastfeeding are well documented thus many women considering breast augmentation are interested by the effects, especially since several candidates still plan on having children. The foremost common questions are do the breasts still produce and deliver milk and is the safety of the milk affected by implants?

Breast augmentation, like all surgical procedures, can have side effects. Your ability to safely breastfeed does have a chance of being of affected, however it's more than likely that you'll be able to breastfeed normally. There are decisions that your surgeon will guide you through that will minimize the likelihood of breastfeeding being affected.

Two sorts of incisions for breast augmentation are round the nipple, and the inframammary incision, which is on the crease on the bottom of the breast. The inframammary incision causes no division of milk glandular tissue or ducts, and reduces the danger of any negative effect on breastfeeding. Incisions round the nipple do divide some of the milk glands, which makes it a bit more risky, but breastfeeding has a high probability of being successful with either incision.

The risk to babies breastfeeding from breasts with implants has been the focus of many studies. Thus far there has been no proof that there are any risks. I will safely say that breastfeeding with implants is safe for your baby and you.

Pregnancy can cause a natural droop of the breasts, and a few women with breast implants decide not to breastfeed for fear that it will have a negative effect on the results of their surgery. About three years ago a study suggested that breast were affected by pregnancy irrespective of whether the mother breastfed or not. My experience suggests otherwise.

Women who would like to enhance the shape or size of their breasts will probably not have their ability to breastfeed be affected by their surgery, though there is a possibility. Discuss your considerations with your surgeon and together you'll make selections that can minimize the risks while enjoying the results. - 30516

What You Should Know About Cosmetic Allergies

By Robert Smith

The American Academy of Dermatology has revealed that on the average, adult Americans use at least seven various cosmetics or cosmetic products daily. The thing is that products like shampoos, colognes, deodorants, moisturizers and other cosmetics have become part of people's daily personal routines and they are considered necessities these days. Cosmetics are primarily used to enhance beauty and some people have become so dependent on them that they become part of lifestyles.

Without any further explanation, it is apparent and very much understood that there are several specified ingredients in such cosmetics that function like antigens or trigger substances for allergic reactions, like fragrances and preservatives.Cosmetic allergies are not so common. However, experts and studies found that on the average, about 10% of the country's population is expected to form or experience a form of cosmetic allergy within their lifetime.

There are two major skin conditions that are symptoms of a cosmetic allergic reaction. The two conditions are irritant contact dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis. Most often cosmetic allergies will cause an inflammation of the skin in the area suffering the reaction. Aside from redness of the skin and some swelling there may also be itching from mild to serious.

The initial, primary symptoms for cosmetic dermatitis can appear immediately or develop after the skin's exposure to the cosmetic product. Symptoms of the allergy begin to be displayed as the skin breaks down following its contact with the harmful ingredients. The irritants begin to injure the outer layer of skin upon contact, which causes the symptoms to appear.

As with other allergies, having an allergic reaction to cosmetics is not a disease. It is actually the immune system's normal response to protect the body from harmful foreign substances.

It would do you no harm if you take several precautions to avoid getting cosmetics allergy. Prevention is much better that treatments. Remember, cosmetic allergy, just like any other allergies, is only treatable, not curable. - 30516

An Alternative Surgery That Is Light Years Ahead of Liposuction

By Rolondo Merriweather

Liposuction is a procedure that is done on a day after day basis in the US, and one that frequently involves added procedures to do away with surplus skin left over when a mass of fat tissue is surgically removed from under the skin.

Old-style Liposuction - Invasive and Dicey

Liposuction has been done on millions of people in the time right after its introduction in 1982. In accordance to the policies of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, over 300,000 patients in the USA undergone invasive surgical treatment in 2006 to get rid of fat from within their bodies.

SmartLipo Benefits

With Smartlipo, by first melting away fat cells before vacuum elimination, overall trauma to surrounding tissue is minimized to a great extent. The individual's energy and health are restored soon after surgery because soreness and healing time is kept to a minimum. Usually, it is only a few days and the expense is about 45% less than the time-honored liposuction. The weight loss surgery patient is not fully unconscious because of general anesthesia, so SmartLipo has much less complications than conventional liposuction surgery.

People undergoing Smartlipo undergo a much faster recuperation time with less complications when compared to earlier liposuction methods. The laser beam creates instantaneous coagulation of the small blood vessels in the adipose tissue. The laser eliminates the drawbacks of old style liposuction surgical procedures of "cutting & tearing away" of body fat tissue with sharpened suction tools. It also involves no incisions or being put to sleep via general anesthesia.

The laser process allows your Smart Lipo doctor to operate the minimally invasive process consistently to all areas being treated, utilizing the laser as a guide. Smart Lipo accuracy makes for a more uniformly treated area, which gets better even further as the healing time comes to an end and the outer skin shrinks around the site.

Instead of the massive tubes and unpleasant doctor's check-ups required of old-style liposuction, SmartLipo uses smaller tools & specialized technology to zap fat cells for contouring and re-sculpting areas of the physique including the neck, love handles, abdomen, backs, thighs, hips, knees, arms, & chin.

Compression Garments for SmartLipo Recovery

Compression garments also support the body in settling into its new appearance. Depending on the size of the physique that experiences SmartLipo, the physician could ask that compression garments be worn for a brief period of time in order to reduce inflammation and aid in recuperation. Yet the truth remains, compression garments do not need to be worn as long for SmartLipo as patient's do in customary liposuction. Because there is not as much tissue disturbance & hemorrhaging in Smartlipo as that connected with conventional liposuction procedures, compression bandages are merely prescribed for approximately two weeks, purely precautionary for the best results achievable.

SmartLipo is a surgical therapy where fatty tissue is removed by lasers and drained out by a tube like device called a cannula. The process itself is dubbed laser lipolysis. It is one of the original laser lipolysis treatments to be approved by the FDA. In the operation, doctors by means of SmartLipo put in a tiny cannula (or tube) with a laser underneath the skin, above fat pockets to be liquefied. In actuality, the incisions of the laser's insertion points are not very perceptible and don't require stitches. It is common in the long-established liposuction to notice a lot of bruising and tissue injury from the sharp action of the surgical cannula.

Beneficial "Side Effect of SmartLipo Laser Treatment

Collagen is the skin's key component found deep in the deep layers of skin tissue below the epidermis for having a young-looking attractiveness. It exists in the lower layers of the skin and muscles of the anatomy. The loss of this tissue happens due to growing old, sun damage, or injury. When this happens it makes people appear older. Because of the laser wavelengths are being directed in the direction of the deep sub-dermal tissues, the body's response is by growing more collagen under the epidermis. This will produce a retraction in addition to tissue contraction as the body recuperates. The consequence will be a younger and more relaxed appearance.

The additional consequence of having SmartLipo surgery helping in the production of collagen is a reaction to the light waves & the movement of the cannula. The energy directed by the laser to the region beneath the surface of the skin stimulates the development of collagen as more or less like a "side effect" of the primary treatment, but in this case, it is a advantageous side effect. The outcome is a better, more toned look after full healing.

SmartLipo's laser-aided lipolysis technique provides a minimally invasive treatment that is innovative in the removal of fat. In stark contrast to conventional liposuction, laser lipolysis targets fat tissue only and melts it for draining & absorption into the lymph system. The cannula (a skinny medical tubing) does not suck the fat cells out of the body, but merely acts as a drainage device. It is a great deal narrower than the cannula used in traditional liosuction. The cannula, the tube which is utilized to help drain the liquefied adipose immediately right after laser, works hand-in-hand with the laser during the surgery.

Overall, compared with conventional liposuction, which can require up to six weeks of stitching, bandages, & even supplementary operations to get rid of excess skin, SmartLipo is certainly the quickest, most advanced & effective technique to forever do away with the adipose tissue in trouble areas. SmartLipo is a rather intelligent selection for any person who has localized fat that should be surgically removed. In the minimally invasive surgery, you can literally go home from the doctor's office on the same afternoon. I give it a thumbs up. - 30516

More And More Men Are Opting For Plastic Surgery

By Robert Smith

Why is the trend in male plastic surgery going up despite its high costs? All you have to do nowadays is turn on the television and you are inundated with sexy, toned bodies and weight loss advertisements. Visit any major restaurant, request something loaded with cheese, and count the dirty looks you get when the waiter brings your food. Thin is in and there is nobody who likes to appear over thirty anymore. The days of distinguished elder gentlemen and the women who love them are bygone.

The majority of men who have gone through plastic surgery will quickly concede that they did so to attract the opposite sex. Older men are prone to be desirous of younger women and so they have to compete with the younger guys. Plastic surgery assists in leveling the playing field, so to speak. Also, because of the emphasis put on health over the last several years, men are both living and working longer than before. Plastic surgery permits them to continue appearing strong and energized on the job.

The most common plastic surgery procedures among men are liposuction, wrinkle removal and, of course, hair transplants. The popularity of these procedures has actually served to bring down plastic surgery costs. This is because an increasing number of doctors are choosing to specialize in the field, so there is a wider fold to choose from. That doesn't mean that plastic surgery costs next to nothing just yet. The more detailed and potentially dangerous the surgery, the higher the cost.

Liposuction, as an example, can cost from $3,000 to $6,000. Facelift procedures can be as expensive as $15,000. It is evident that plastic surgery costs are not cheap, but neither are they excessively expensive.

It looks like this could be something both men and women are equal in. - 30516

The pooling of blood underneath the skin or in the tissue following surgery is a situation known as hematoma. A frequent kind of hematoma is bruising or a black eye from a fight for instance. In serious cases, the area could turn out to be infected. Hematoma resulting from plastic surgery could require the draining of the blood from the affected area.

Necrosis is a situation where the cells of your skin start dying prematurely. There are a number of causes of skin necrosis that include cancer, infection, damage and inflammation. Skin necrosis has been known to happen following plastic surgery owing to the fact that the area that is undergoing surgery experiences an interrupted blood supply. Lacking blood, the tissues lack oxygen and if left too long, necrosis might result.

Nerve damage is a probability with any surgery, not just plastic surgery. Permanent damage of the nerve occurs when the nerve is completely cut off somehow. Tingling, numbness of the affected area and itching are all symptoms of nerve damage. This commonly fades in time as the nerves regrow. It may possibly sometimes take years for the nerve to regrow totally but a healing period of about 6 months is commonly the norm.

It is essential that the client seek advice from the plastic surgeon regarding the risks involved. While some of these risks can be very serious, they happen only very rarely. - 30516

What Are The Pre-Cosmetic Surgery Preparations I Have To Undergo?

By Trina Rowde

There are many reasons why individuals want to undergo cosmetic surgery. While some want to simply improve their looks for more confidence, there are also those who may want to undergo it after an accident.

Proper preparation is necessary for surgery to be successful. Sited below are list of guidelines that will help you get ready for cosmetic surgery.

- Proper Assessment on Health Conditions

Before the procedure, your surgeon will usually assess you if you are fit for the surgery. Most likely, qualified patients will take series of test to check if they don't have any undetected health problems thus having health problems such as diabetes, heart diseases and the like can cause serious complications during and after surgery.

- Assessment on the Type of Medications Taken

To make sure that nothing will go wrong during and after the procedure, your surgeon will usually assess the types of medications you are taking if there are any. Some of these drugs include aspirin containing products and other inflammatory medications thus these drugs can inhibit blood clotting. Your physician will also provide you the list of over the counter medications to avoid.

- Stop Smoking

If you are a smoker, you should stop smoking at least two weeks before and after the surgery. Smoking delays the healing process and if not stopped, will likely result to complications.

- Consultation

Aside from physical fitness, you have to be emotionally and mentally ready to undergo the surgery. It is also advisable to acquire guidance and advice from a cosmetic surgery consultant or from a psychologist before the surgery, to prepare yourself physically, emotionally and mentally on the many aspects of surgery. In the process, different emotions will emerge both positive and negative. Some would feel depression, insecurity and disappointment, so it is advisable to set your mind beforehand on wanting to go on with the surgical procedure.

- Patients Education

Your surgeon should be able to provide you with adequate information about the entire procedure. Surgery comes with inherent risk and complications may occur. It is important to have realistic expectations with surgery. Hence, it is not right to engage into another procedure one after another just to be satisfied, thus doing this can cause serious damage to the body.

- Pre and Post-Surgical Care

Before the procedure, make sure you have somebody - a nurse or a health care provider - to look after you once you emerge from the operating room. You need someone to look at you 24-72 hours, thus you can't do everything on your own after the surgery. It is also advisable that you set up a home recovery area in your house, the area should be packed up with things that you need during the recovery period.

Just remember, that there is no reason to rush into cosmetic surgery without proper preparations. Initially it is wise to have adequate preparation, thus in doing so patients would experience fewer complications and recover fast compared to patients who are unprepared. - 30516

Care Should Be Patient after Liposuction Surgery

By Adriana Noton

Plastic surgery procedures are so popular these days that things like liposuction are considered totally routine surgeries. While the procedure is a far cry from what it first was when it came onto the scene, much of the care of body with liposuction surgery is very similar to what it was years ago.

While tips are always great, final care may change from doctor to doctor. Realize that this is nothing more than the norm of what happens after a typical surgery. However, you can rest assured that these after liposuction surgery tips are pretty much the standard that just about every hospital uses for their liposuction patients.

Once the surgery has taken place, the patient will want to do little more than rest. Because the compression garment must be warn for two days straight, it is unlikely that they will do anything more than lie around. When that initial time frame has passed, the garment can be taken off to shower, but must be worn at all other times, including sleeping for the next 3 weeks or so. After that, it can be removed at bed time, but that is the only time. This goes on for another 3 weeks or so and then they can finally leave it off.

The compression garment is probably the most important thing in the recovery period. Because this procedure breaks the bond that is holding the skin to the nerves and bones, that bond must be resealed. The compression garment ensures that this will happen.

The entire area that has been treated will show some bruising. At times, this can be significant, but it perfectly normal. The muscles in this area are also going to be very sore, but that too will go away. Give the body some time to recover and everything will get back to normal in a couple of weeks.

After they get back home, they may see some leakage from the sutures where the doctors made the incision. Know that this is perfectly normal. Some of the fluids may have remained inside the body and they will leak out. When this happens, be sure to dab the spots dry as the compression garment must remain dry and clean at all times.

This probably goes without saying, but rest is also very important. The body has been through a very traumatic event and rest is very important to build back up strength. When strength starts to come back, some light activity can start, but nothing significant should be attempted until the compression garment is taken off.

One of the most disturbing things for most people is the bruising that they see and the lack of cohesion of the skin when they take off the garment for the first time. While it can be a little unnerving, it is normal and will eventually all go away if the recovery rules are followed. When that time passes, the only thing left is a new and improved you. - 30516
