What Are The Best Stretch Mark Treatments Available?

By Tony Garrudo

When you think about Stretch Marks, what do you think of first? Which aspects of Stretch Marks are important, which are essential, and which ones can you take or leave? You be the judge.

The reason for this is that some stretch marks actually fade eventually, which makes them a lot less noticeable. With this in mind, many people decide that they can live with having the stretch marks. Another choice is to cover your stretch marks up with specially designed makeup. If covering up the stretch marks is not enough for you, you can opt to try laser therapy. The type of laser the surgeon uses will depend solely on the color of the stretch marks you are seeking treatment for. One type of laser works to stimulate the production of cells that make pigment. There is another type of laser that works to reduce the color of the stretch marks.

You can even get laser treatment that will up your production of collagen to the point where your stretch marks will become elastic again. Stretch marks are caused by the skin stretching more than it can handle, so fixing that is paramount. Puberty and other factors can bring on the appearance of stretch marks. Women who undergo pregnancy or people with rapid weight gain also experience this condition. The dermis layer of the skin is what undergoes the damage. Between the dermis are the epidermis, the outer layer of the skin, and the subcutaneous layer, which is closer to your body's interior.

Some people choose to use blue light therapy for their treatments. This treatment is also useful when fighting acne problems. This therapy removes stretch marks using a combination of gel and light.

An older, low-tech treatment is to use creams to help moisturize skin, repair collagen and elastin growth. They commonly contain combinations of cocoa butter, wheat germ oil, lanolin and vitamin E. But actually, these creams are most effective if used while your skin is being stretched to help keep it soft, supple, smooth and elastic. So prevention is a good idea for those most susceptible to them. If you haven't applied creams while the skin was being stretched, the sooner you begin afterwards, the better.

You won't find a guaranteed cure all for stretch marks, but there are ways that you can use these methods in concert to prevent them or minimize their appearance. After all, it's not like stretch marks are putting your life in danger or diminishing your health. They're simply inconvenient and frustrating to many of us. - 30516
