Post Liposuction - Maintaining Your Figure

By Andy Rich

Despite what some people may think liposuction is, many experts warn that liposuction is not a solution for obesity and is not to be confused as a weight loss option. The procedure itself is solely for the purpose of removing fat in specific parts of an already healthy body. It is for those who want to remove pockets of fat that are hard to reach through exercise and dieting. The important part, especially for anyone who has lost the weight and then used liposuction to make the final touches, is that a healthy lifestyle is maintained so that the body is kept in tip top shape and avoids major weight gain.

The first step to sustainable weight loss is having the right mentality. Take on the persona of a person who is already at your ideal weight. What differences in their eating and exercising habits do they have from yours? What are their standards when it comes to being healthy? A fit person would not let themselves gain excessive weight because they think exercising and eating well is normal, anything else is abnormal and must be corrected. Over time these beliefs forces a person to live a certain way and the body will either lose or gain weight to correspond to the living habits of the person.

Some major differences are prominent when observing the lifestyles of overweight people and physically fit people. The first of which is their eating habits. Many people who are in shape will do things that confuse most people. They seem to eat unhealthy foods and in large quantities. It can only be that what you observed is not typical of their diet, or that they will gain weight soon. To properly maintain a healthy lifestyle your diet, and more importantly what you think about your diet has to be aligned with healthy living. Eat a variety of natural foods and use fruits to satisfy any need for sweets. Incorporate vegetables as a regular part of any meal plan and avoid processed foods as much as possible.

To stay health it is important to drink plenty of water. Things like caffeine and sugary drinks dehydrate and this means your body needs even more water to offset these chemicals. Water works to saturate and dilute toxins and other bad chemicals in your body and serves as a medium through which these toxins are flushed out of your body. By making this a normal habit of drinking more water, the body is fully hydrated to perform at a higher level than it was use to. An easy way is to try to carry a water bottle with you at all times. This way you can sip water throughout your day without impeding other commitments in your life.

The one missing piece, and in my opinion the easiest to incorporate, is exercising. All you need is moderate exercise to keep the body in shape and gets the blood flowing. The best way to make sure you keep this up is to create a plan and get up an extra 30 minutes early. Take a brisk walk around the block or hit the gym or anything in between depending on your level of fitness. If you are not use to exercising daily then make it a challenge. Make a plan to do it every single day for a month or whatever span of time you think will best motivate you and offer yourself a non-diet-destroying reward. There are countless benefits to exercising that we do not need to get into, just do it.

Proper exercise, diet and the right mind set will improve every area of your life beyond your health. A healthy body exudes positive energy which will permeate and influence every aspect of your life. People are much more attracted to healthy positive people and you will certainly feel more positive when the body is happy and healthy. Remember these things and stay healthy to get the most out of liposuction results. There is no point in paying for a procedure and then gaining all the weight back. It is also dangerous to gain significant weight regardless of whether or not you were a patient of liposuction surgery. - 30516
